Alzheimer’s Leader for Caregivers

We are looking for facilitators to help in the groups, we provide the training. Facilitator role is to keep the support group on track and keep those in attendance involved.

Volunteers are needed for the JOY-Alzheimer’s group that provides activities to the loved ones while caregiver attends support group. Training provided.  

We also need additional help to lead or co-lead to provide: Arts and Crafts, Music, Games and Exercise

Bargains & Blessings Pickup Scheduler

Bargains & Blessings needs a volunteer to maintain a roster of pickup volunteers and develop monthly pickup schedule. Contact volunteers via email or phone call to fill monthly schedule, and follow up to remind them.

Bargains & Blessings Donation Scheduler

Bargains & Blessings needs a volunteer to access voicemails and return calls to customers. Determine if donations meet our requirements. Schedule donation on Google Chrome (template), post to Google Calendar (template), and prepare Google Maps (template)

Qualifications:

• Commitment to fulfilling the vision and mission of New Covenant.

• Spiritual Gifts: A sense of radical hospitality and service to others.

• Computer Skills: Knowledge of basic computer skills including e-mail, Google Chrome, Google Calendar, and Google Maps

Commitment:

Work from home. A volunteer is needed to work one day a week to access calls from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., checking voicemails about every 30 minutes. There is also the need for a second volunteer who would be willing to fill in as needed.

Bargains and Blessings Store Volunteer

Bargains & Blessings needs volunteers to help load and unload furniture and other household items. We also need drivers to pick up donations at homes where the items are being donated from.

Callers Needed

We are setting up a team of callers that can help the staff make calls to our congregation. This is a very big job, and we need help reaching over 3,000 people. We feel it is very important to speak to our congregation to update them on things that are happening in the church as well as reaching those who cannot get to church for a variety of reasons.

• A sense of hospitality and service to others.

Commitment:

We ask that you come into the church to call as we get better response when the calls come directly from the church. Four times a year we will make calls to our congregation.

Celebration of Life Usher & Greeter

We are in need of Greeters and Ushers for Celebrations of Life (memorial services).  Strict safety measure are in place to protect volunteers.  Training will be provided.

Christmas Wish Tree Project Manager

Qualifications:

• Project Leaders encourage members, family and friends to provide gifts for children during the season of giving for New Covenant.

• Work with selected agencies to ensure Wish List intake forms are completed.

• Assist with recruiting volunteers to assist with labeling gift tags.

• Ensure Christmas trees are set up in designated spot and Wish List tags are positioned per color code.

• Work with Missions & Outreach to ensure that all gifts are stored in designated area.

• Provide weekly updates to Missions & Outreach on the progress of Christmas Wish Tree donations.

• Greet all with a warm smile.

Commitment:

This is a once-a- year outreach opportunity. The project leader would need to schedule volunteers to help set up and decorate the Christmas trees. Volunteers would be needed prior to and after worship services on Saturday evening and Sunday morning during the month of October to distribute gift tags and collect gifts/donations.

Communion Servers


Needed for the all services, servers are needed to help with Communion. Training is provided, and everyone works in teams.

Coffee Bar Server

Shifts are 7:45 - 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. If you can make coffee, we need you!

Our coffee bar is run by volunteers.  The commitment is one weekend a month.

Family Ministry Helper

If you have experience working with children and/or youth, we invite you to become a volunteer in our Family Ministry. Opportunities include our Orchard Kids program, Grounded Youth, Performing Arts, Sunday classes, or Summer Camps. Training will be provided.

Gleaners

Gleaning fruits and vegetables at local farms.

Qualifications:

• Commitment to fulfilling the vision and mission of New Covenant.

• Requires bending, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying baskets containing produce.

• Unloading prepackaged food boxes from semi-trailer and loading into vehicles from local food pantries and soup kitchens.

 

Commitment:

Gleaning opportunities vary depending on availability of produce to harvest. Days of the week will vary. Food distribution opportunities at New Covenant are scheduled from 7:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Harvesting from local farms is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

The Guild

Members assist Co-Chairs to complete necessary tasks according to liturgical calendar and to decorate assigned areas for different seasons celebrated by the church.

Home Communion Servers

To serve home communion to our faith community who are shut in their homes, reside in assisted-living facilities, or during hospitalization. Training and supplies will be provided.

Kitchen Volunteers.jpg

Kitchen Volunteers

The kitchen is in need of volunteers to help with food prep for a function on Wednesday, November 10.  If you would like to volunteer in any of the areas listed below please contact John Kellar at (352) 750-4529.

Two Team Leaders: contact/confirm that all scheduled to work a shift with them are confirmed to do so then provide service guidance & leadership (making sure tables are set properly, food is served, tables are bussed & cleaned , trash is removed.

Eight to ten dining room workers/servers (times 2): they perform waiter/waitress duties, setting out place settings, serving food, making sure tables are bussed, cleared & cleaned.  One of them is responsible for beverages – coffee making.

Two to Four Kitchen Food Prep Helpers (times 2): these folks assist me in all food preparation – peeling, dicing, cooking/roasting, portioning, setting up the service line and restocking as needed – then kitchen work area clean up.

Four to Six for Dishwashing & Clean Up (times 2): wash all dishes, utensils, pots & pans and properly store all items.  Clean up includes trash removal and kitchen/dish room floor care (sweep & mop).

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Project Organizers

Operation Christmas Child needs a chairperson to oversee the project, as well as several volunteers to help with the shoeboxes during the collection in November.

Qualifications:

• Commitment to fulfilling the vision and mission of New Covenant.

• Encourage everyone to complete the shoebox gifts during the season of giving for New Covenant.

• Set up box stations before and after church services.

• Refill resource display throughout the week and keep tallies of the number of shoeboxes completed. Work with the Missions Coordinator for direction and distribution.

• Consistently interact with congregants and public with warmth and hospitality.

Commitment:

Assemble shoe boxes in August and for the collection in November. During the collection volunteers will need to help before and after service to consolidate the completed boxes.

Traffic Control Team

Our seven-person Traffic Control Team guides incoming and outgoing vehicle traffic for entertainment events at New Covenant’s campus, working in conjunction with a Sumter County Deputy Sheriff on CR101. Our paramount concern is everyone’s safety while entering and exiting an event.

Qualifications:

• Commitment to fulfilling the vision and mission of New Covenant.

• Consistently interact with congregants and public with warmth and hospitality.

• Physical ability to direct traffic and constantly be on feet.

Commitment:

We do this for events when anticipated attendance exceeds 500 people. Our job is to direct inbound traffic to New Covenant’s East and West parking lots prior to an event and to direct orderly and safe exits from our property following an event’s conclusion.

Welcome Center Volunteer

Greet visitors and congregants at the Welcome Center and answer questions about various church activities and resources. Training is provided.
