Brass Band of Central Florida:
Under the music direction of Professor Gareth Pritchard, features central Florida’s finest brass and percussion musicians performing in the British brass band style with a uniquely American twist. BBCF has an active performance schedule of concerts, outreach programs and competitions throughout the United States. This dynamic ensemble has appeared with world class soloists including David Childs, Robert Childs, Steven Mead, Philip Smith and Demondrae Thurman and has won the North American Brass Band Association championship and the U.S. Open Championship four times.

Internationally, BBCF has performed at the British Open Brass Band Championships in Birmingham, England, the Brass on Sundays Gala Concert in Birmingham’s Symphony Hall and, after a record breaking finish in 2011, returned for the third time to the Brass in Concert Championship at Sage, Gateshead in the fall of 2014. In November of 2014 the BBCF recorded its seventh CD titled “15” marking the band’s 15th Birthday. Previous releases include Brass-A-Peel, ’Tis a Gift, Sing, Sang, Sung, Anniversary, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year and Omnium Gatherum.

The Celebration Brass Band:
Started in May of 2009, is made up of full and part-time residents from The Villages, FL., and the surrounding area. Celebration Brass Band is a British-style brass band made up of Eb and Bb brass instruments plus percussion. The band is limited to 26 brass and 2 to 5 percussion players. Cornets are used in place of trumpets, and Eb tenor horns are used in place of French horns.

One of approximately 300 bands in the United States compared to over 2000 bands in the United Kingdom, Celebration Brass Band is conducted by Jill Van Syckle. Brass bands are also popular in Australia, New Zealand, Western Europe and Scandinavia.

The mission of the band is to establish and maintain the tradition of British-style brass band music in Central Florida. The band accomplishes its mission through a variety of educational and community outreach initiatives to enhance individuals’ awareness and understanding of the history and development of brass band music.
